By following my values and prioritizing my family’s needs, I ended up making the most significant changes to my life. It has been a rewarding path, and I am grateful every day for the life I have.

It was one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make. My career in banking was not fulfilling, and I didn’t have enough quality time with my family. Everything I did was controlled by someone else. My agenda for the day, the projects I worked on, whom I spoke with – I had little control over anything. It was frustrating, and I knew something needed to change.

My family has always been my top priority. My wife, Jayshree, and two children, Arjun and Chitra, mean the world to me. It was hard at times being away from our own families in India; however, we made it a point to visit at least once every other year. With work, it became more and more challenging for my wife and me to take off for multiple weeks at a time. We would save all our vacation days for our visits to India, but when we returned, we would be reassigned to different projects. It was stressful and frustrating having our desire to see our families negatively impact our jobs.

My wife and I enrolled our children in a private school to provide them with the best education possible. The school zones in Fort Mill often changed as the city grew, and we didn’t want our kids to keep having to readjust to new schools. By the end of every month, we were getting by but had little left over. I didn’t want to live paycheck to paycheck.

I started to feel like I had no control, and I was losing quality time with my family. I worked hard and was a high-performing employee, but I felt the return was not equivalent to the work I provided. I was sacrificing a lot of time at the expense of my family. I needed to make a change for their sake and mine. Family will always come first for me, no matter what.

In 2017, I decided to get my REALTOR® license and take the risk of leaving behind my long career in banking. It was a terrifying change, but I knew I had to commit fully if I was going to make it work. I started by calculating exactly what I needed to make in order to get by comfortably and how many clients I would need to meet that goal. Then I started working at achieving that goal and even going beyond it.

The start of my real estate career was made easier by the strong sphere of influence I had amidst many work friends who have known me for years. They trusted me and my financial expertise and often referred others to me for real estate investment help. I guided my colleagues to execute a plan that fast-tracks their retirement plans. It has been fantastic to put my clients in a place where they can retire at any time and live off of their real estate investments for the rest of their lives. That’s why I love what I do and hope to keep helping others get started.

My life truly has transformed. Many friends even say I look better and happier than ever. It all comes down to the changes I have made in order to have a better life for myself and my family. My career has given me the freedom I need to spend time with my family and be present. Every day I get to drop my kids off and pick them up from school, go to their games and enjoy quality time together. Through all these big life changes, I am grateful I chose to prioritize my family and take a chance.

I don’t look at just the present but the future. I take the time to consider where you want to be and how a home or sale can get you there. I have seen firsthand, through my own experiences and my clients’, how life-changing real estate can be.

It is a wonderful feeling to help families start creating generational wealth and create a legacy. Even when the transaction is over, I am committed to serving as your REALTOR® for life.
